Hours Extended for Young Library, Additional RESTART Reminders
UK Libraries is dedicated to providing share spaces that are both safe and accessible to our campus community. Although hours will remain reduced at our campus locations to allow for more regular deep cleaning, William T. Young Library will now operate on a semi-extended schedule starting September 21. View our Hours at a Glance for more information.
We encourage you to visit our Facility Hours & Operations before visiting the library for more information on UK Libraries' mask policy, operating schedule, study rooms and other service changes.
Protect. Respect. Do your part.
UK Libraries is excited to welcome students and faculty back to campus, and we are committed to doing our part to help keep our community safe and healthy. Procedures regarding public access to library facilities have been guided by the University of Kentucky's restart plans outlined for the fall semester.
Facility Hours & Operations
Library hours and seating capacity are reduced to facilitate a more rigorous cleaning protocol and provide space for proper physical distancing. Onsite service in each building has been condensed to a single point fashioned with a Plexiglass shield.
Group study and meeting rooms are unavailable for the fall semester. Commonly shared items such as public computers, dry erase markers and erasers, cables and similar materials will not be available in public areas or for checkout.
In accordance with UK's campus-wide policy, patrons are required to wear CDC-approved face masks or coverings in public library spaces and remain at a minimum of six feet from others. Even when seated at a designated study area, patrons must continue wearing a face covering. Disposable masks, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes are available at each location.
Additional information about visiting your favorite UK Libraries' library is available on our Service Updates page.
Online Services & Resources
UK Libraries encourages you to continue taking advantage of our NO OR LOW CONTACT SERVICES AND RESOURCES. Librarians are online to answer questions seven days a week through UK Libraries' chat service ("Ask Us"). Online appointments and instruction sessions with UK Libraries' academic liaisons may also be scheduled.
Visit our Electronic Resources page to explore a variety of UK Libraries' online materials. We are also offering Grab-and-Go pickup of print materials as a low contact alternative for in-person browsing and borrowing.
Looking to return print items? Please use the designated book return outside your nearest UK Libraries location. Print materials are quarantined for 72 hours between handling.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to create shared spaces and resources that respect the health and well-being of library patrons and personnel.
