Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History

Nunn Center

The Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History at the University of Kentucky is recognized around the world as a leader and innovator in the collection and preservation of oral histories.  The close to 10,000 oral history interviews in our collection provide a unique look into Kentucky and American history and represent an irreplacible resource for researchers today and generations from now.  Our collections focus on 20th century Kentucky history, Appalachia, Kentucky writers, agriculture, black history, the history of education, politics and public policy, the Civil Rights Movement, veterans, the University of Kentucky, healthcare, as well as industries such as coal, equine and Kentucky's bourbon industry.

We aspire to enlighten students, faculty, researchers, and members of the community about our shared history through the stories of those who have lived it.  And through our online catalog (SPOKEdb) and innovative access system (OHMS), those stories are easier to access than they have ever been.

You can find the latest Nunn Center-related news and announcements by following us on Twitter , Facebook,or the read the Nunn Center's blog, "Saving Stories".  If you like podcasts, we have recently launched a podcast called the Wisdom Project Podcast which features interviews from the collection.  We also invite you to subscribe to our newsletter.

For questions or to explore partnership opportunities, please contact the Director of the Nunn Center Doug Boyd.
